MEDUSA: TEMPLE OF THE SERPENT
A descent into the gaze, the serpent, and what the body knows beneath language.
Medusa has come down to us as monster: the terrible face, the petrifying gaze, the serpents.
And yet the Gorgon also stood at thresholds, her image placed where something needed guarding.
On this evening, we enter that threshold.
Not to study Medusa, but to encounter the territory she guards: instinct, boundary, shadow, sovereignty, and the intelligence of the body that exists before explanation.
Through movement, breath, voice, stillness, ritual, embodied inquiry, and relational practice, we will turn toward what is often pushed outside the walls: the places we have learned to silence, restrain, exile, or turn away from.
What if the face we fear is also the face that guards what is sacred?
This is an intimate four-hour ritual gathering held at Butterfly Mountain in Topanga Canyon as daylight gives way to night.
We are not gathering to study her.
We are entering the territory she guards.
