A Note From Your Guide

Amir Khalighi

Amir Khalighi
“The opposite of addiction isn’t sobriety—it’s connection.”— Johann Hari

The 40 Days & 40 Nights container was built around something we see again and again. Most people already know what they want to change and have often known it for years. What is missing is a way to meet themselves when the old pattern return, alongside the support, accountability, and consistency needed for real change to take place. Just as we don’t consciously heal a cut on our bodies, we simply need to make sure the environment supports and is condusive to healing. The same principle applies to stepping into this container.

The name 40 Days & 40 Nights comes from the forty day periods of retreat and commitment found in many traditions. There is a practical reason for it too. Forty days is long enough to meet your patterns in this enviroment many times over and short enough to commit to fully.

We cannot promise the habit will be gone on January 9. Nobody honest can promise that. What we offers is a safe, supportive environment with the connection and accountability necessary for change to take place. Your level of engagement in that process will determine your success.

The Work

The Part of Us That Reaches

There is a part of us that reaches.

When something feels difficult to be with, that part reaches for a substance, a distraction, or a familiar behavior. Often it is looking for some kind of relief. During these forty days, we begin getting to know that part of ourselves, with curiosity instead of judgment.

Loneliness
You feel disconnected. You reach for your phone, hoping to feel connected to someone.
Stress
You feel tense or overwhelmed. You reach for a substance or familiar habit to take the edge off.
Restlessness
You feel bored or restless. You reach for something stimulating to change how you feel.

So we slow down and look at what happens in between.

  • What happens before we reach?
  • What are we feeling in the body?
  • What relief are we seeking?
  • What need is asking for our attention?

Together, we explore what draws us toward the habit, what it offers in the moment, and what it costs us. We learn to recognize the feelings, needs, and cues involved, then practice new ways of responding and build habits that support our lives.

Each person’s pattern is different. Part of the work is discovering your own.

This takes two things at once. A real commitment that you keep, and the honesty to look at what happens when you do not. When you slip, you tell the truth about it, learn from it, and come back the next day. No shame, and no starting over from zero.

Who It's For

Is This for You?

Receive the support you need for the change you so deeply desire.

  • You recognize a pattern that keeps drawing you back, even when part of you wants something different.
  • You want to understand what pulls you toward it, not only push against it.
  • You are curious about what you actually need in those moments, and ready to find new ways to meet it.
  • You want support in your day-to-day life: a daily rhythm, a rooted commitment, an accountability partner, shared morning practices, and a community walking alongside you.
  • You are willing to show up most weekday mornings and take a few minutes every night for forty days, including the days it does not go well.

What this is not

40 Days & 40 Nights is a supportive container held within community, helping you change a habit and move toward the life you deeply desire. It is not addiction treatment, and it is not therapy. If you are working with an addiction or anything that needs clinical care, please keep that support in place. This work can sit alongside it.

What You Commit To

A Contract with Yourself

Commitments matter. Before we begin, you will write and submit a personal contract that names your change and what you will do to support it.

Your words, your terms

You decide what you are changing, what you are willing to give up for it, and the specific actions you will take. Writing it down makes it real. You will come back to it many times over the forty days.

An accountability partner

You will have an accountability partner for honest check-ins and support. Someone who knows what you committed to, asks how it is really going, and makes it harder to go quiet when things get hard.

Accountability partners check in with each other every weekday. Amir will share the structure for these check-ins during the opening call.

Movement and nature

Moving your body and sitting quietly outside give you more ways to come back to yourself, especially on the days the habit is loud.

Be physically active at least four times each week and spend one hour in silence in nature each week.

The Daily Rhythm

Morning Practice, Nightly Reflection

The mornings give you practice. The nights give you a place to look honestly at your day.

Mornings · Live with Amir

Thirty Minutes, Every Weekday

Each weekday starts together. Thirty minutes of live practice with Amir, 6:30 to 7:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Friday, from December 1 through January 8. We take Christmas Day off, and we do meet on New Year's Day.

Through meditation, gratitude, and visualization, you build the capacity to stay present with what you feel, so there is room to choose before you reach. Then you carry that into the rest of your day.

  • Not heldWeekends and Christmas Day
  • Time6:30 to 7:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time
  • PracticeMeditation, gratitude, and visualization practice
Nights · On Your Own

Three to Five Minutes, Every Night

All forty nights, weekends and holidays included. Pause. Feel your body for a moment. Then write a few lines.

Tonight's questions
  1. Where did I feel the pull of the habit today, and what was happening?
  2. How did I respond, and what did I need in that moment?
  3. What's one thing I'll do tomorrow to support my commitment?

Some nights you will write about a moment you caught. Some nights you will write about one you missed. Both count. This is how you notice, learn, adjust, and return to your commitment the next morning.

Questions

Practical Details

What kinds of habits can I work on?

You can bring a habit or recurring behavior you feel you have less choice around than you’d like, or want a healthier relationship with. This might include compulsive phone use, substance use, avoidance, or other patterns that are costing you or affecting others. Choose one primary pattern to focus on during these forty days.

Is this addiction treatment?

No. This is a practice and a community, not treatment or therapy. If you are working with an addiction or anything that needs clinical care, please keep that support in place.

What if I slip?

You may. That’s okay. When it happens, you do not hide it and you do not start over. You look at what happened in your nightly reflection, talk it through with your accountability partner, and recommit the next day. A slip shows you something about your pattern. Use it.

What time are the morning practices and group calls?

Morning practices run 6:30 to 7:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, every weekday from December 1 through January 8, except Christmas Day. We do meet on New Year's Day, January 1, 2027.

The four group calls run 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday, December 1, Monday, December 14, Sunday, December 27, and Saturday, January 9.

Will the sessions be recorded?

The four group calls will be recorded. Morning practices will not be recorded.

How does the accountability partner work?

Each participant has an accountability partner for honest check-ins and support throughout the forty days. Accountability partners check in with each other every weekday. Amir will share the structure for these check-ins during the opening call.

How do I schedule my private session with Amir?

Amir will explain how to schedule your included sixty minute private session during the opening call. Your session will take place within the forty day program.

Who can join?

40 Days & 40 Nights is open to men and women.

Why is the group limited to 20 participants?

This work asks for honesty and a willingness to meet parts of yourself you may be used to avoiding. Keeping the container small creates more room to know one another, share openly, and build trust over the forty days. The cap supports meaningful participation in the group calls and a community where people can feel seen and supported.

Will I keep access to the private community space?

Yes. You’ll continue to have access to the cohort’s private community space after the program, so you can stay connected, share your experience, and support one another’s ongoing integration.

What is the refund policy?

All registrations are final. We do not offer refunds.

Is there a payment plan?

Yes. You can pay $695 in full, or make three monthly payments of $232, which comes to $696. Both options include the same complete program.

Choosing the payment plan means committing to all three monthly payments, even though the program itself lasts forty days.

Break the habit. Change how you live.

Forty days. One commitment. Beginning December 1.
